The SeaDragon returns!

Friday was a busy day at Funland being that the SeaDragon made the trip from Wichita, KS where Chance completely dis-assembled, made new many parts that cannot be seen, especially the large “keel” which basically is the boat, refreshed the seats and installed new lap-bars and hardware inside and out.

Enclosed are some pictures of the boat being installed.

Looks like another noreaster is bearing down on the Delmarva Peninsula! Blizzard warnings have been posted through Saturday afternoon!

Anxious to see how much we get when it’s all said and done!

Another Perfect Storm?

It’s been pretty nasty here the past 24 hours, and isn’t supposed to let up anytime soon!
Some storm forcasters have put this system right up there with 1998, and even the storm of 1962:

Operating Schedule Update

Because of the gale force winds and wind gusts approaching 50 mph, Funland will not open this evening.

We are presently experiencing rain squalls that are to continue throughout the evening.

We are sorry for any inconvenience, we hope to re-open at 7 PM on Friday, September 11th.

Due to the continued forecast for heavy rain, some of the rides may not be in operation.

Steel From the Thomas Tracy

Ok, I wasn’t going crazy….I just didn’t post these pictures here.

These are pieces of the Tracy that were uncovered after they wrecked, sorry for the pun, the auger that was being used to make the piles for the boardwalk re-do.

USS Thomas Tracy

Found the picture of the coal collier that was beached during a storm in 1944. I had previously posted some pictures of pieces of steel plate that were uncovered when the pilings for the boardwalk were being dug.

This picture was taken from the foot of Brooklyn Avenue. Underneath the stern of the vessel, you can see the remnants of the wooden barge, the Merrimack.

It’s been a busy winter here at Funland, we’ve all had our projects going for quite some time and, hopefully soon, those projects will start coming together….so we can open the doors for business!

Parts of the Merry-Go-Round are painted and ready to be re-assembled. The Freefall will soon be set back in place, along with everything else we have apart. It is a little scary how much we have to re-assemble, but I’m sure it will all get done!

Big news is that of the boardwalk project, the guys have been hard at work, rain or shine, putting down a tremendous amount of lumber. It is most impressive:
